Wild Horse Roundup

I just heard some good news this morning (Saturday) that Polly Johnson got out of the hospital yesterday and is at home and feeling pretty good. That sounds great.

I read in the Range Ledger that Bonnie Boland gave a report at the Historical Society meeting about the C.C.C. camp at Cheyenne Wells. That really takes me back in time. In 1935 I joined up along with some other fellows from here and Sheridan Lake. We got our shots and in about a week or so they loaded us in an Army truck and we thought we were headed for Red Feather Lakes, but when we got to Hugo they pulled into the camp there and we were home. It was a job with something to wear and eat and $30.00 a month which they gave us five and sent $25.00 home. When I went home my mother gave me a little to go to a dance. In camp you could spend $4.00 in the canteen that left a dollar.

Thursday I found out that the wipers on our van still worked. I went to Kit Carson and it seemed so nice to see it rain a little.

Our grandson, Nathan and Berenice with their two babies, Viviana and Isaac came down Saturday to spend the weekend. It seems so nice to have some young people around once in a while. Viviana is two months and Isaac is 6 months. Nathan is a busy school teacher and Berenice is a stay at home mom. She used to be an assistant second grade teacher.

We just talked to the twins in Norway and tomorrow, the 23rd, is their 15th birthday. How time does fly. They had a birthday cake and each got a leather coat. They found a store where they were 75% off, so that probably made them affordable. I had no idea it was their birthday. There are to many for me to keep track of.

Marty and Sue Dutro spent three days in Colorado Springs attending a meeting with some people from St. Louis about the program on their computer. Most of the other girls from K.C. Electric spent one day each. Marty knew some of those from St. Louis as she had met them when she used to go down there.
