Progressive FCE Club Meets

"The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow, do good anyway". With Kaye Kasza as the hostess, the ladies of the Progressive FCE Club met Thursday, February 19th at the Eads Senior Center. They answered roll call "Relate a historical fact or story about Kiowa County," which brought accounts that could have lasted all afternoon because we have so many wonderful stories of our pioneers and our own good memories.

Our guest was Robin Musgrave.

President Maxine Mays chaired the meeting and Ruth Wissel gave the Secretary’s and Treasurer’s reports. Ruth said we had a thank you note from the Colorado Boys Ranch Director for our money gift we gave in December for the Scholarship Fund. Sis Howard told about a service project that some of us might be able to assist with and maybe involve some 4-H seamstresses in repairing fringes on bed spreads at the hospital.

Doris Lessenden discussed the FCE project across the nation to educate against the violence and negative issues dealing with the media in America. She will make a presentation next month. Maxine gave a review of an interesting article about Abraham Lincoln. Margie Wiltfang added some interesting facts about him and George Washington from her travels. Zelda Peterson presented an interesting lesson on one of her favorite hobbies, quilting. She showed us pictures from an article on "Beloved Quilts" by Helen Kelley that illustrated uses of fabrics, colors, and designs.

Margie helped Kaye serve coffee, mints, and nuts with marble cake and cool whip. Our next meeting will be March 17th. Ladies are welcome to come to the center at l:30 p.m. to the meeting and lesson.
