Wild Horse Roundup

It is pretty foggy this morning, but
maybe I can see to write a little bit.
Latisha Robinson interviewed us a
few days ago to find out what we did in our younger days around here. I
thought of quite a few things after she left. We let her take two albums
to get some things that went on around here. Last day of school was a
picnic at the creek, the literarys in the hall drew a big crowd once a
month to hear the debates and such. Clara Schallenberger was one of the
best. Dances in the hall every two weeks and Lost Springs about 10 miles
north of here. There was good music, Lee Rhinehart and his all girl
orchestra from Sharon Springs, Bill Asnicar, The Plamores, Mullens from
north of here, the Farmer Three, a band from Boyero, Little Circus, called
dog and pony shows. I remember one from Nashville, a vaudeville show
called the Plunketts that stayed in Kit Carson and in the surrounding
towns every week. Maybe I’ve went on to long so will quit.
Services were held Tuesday for an
old friend of ours in Seibert. Orley Conarty worked at the Collins Ranch
and was one o the bunch we all done things together with. Our thoughts and
prayers are with the family.

The historical write up about Wild
Horse and John McIntyre and the flood that took his sheep is the place
that Marty owns. We picked up quite a few of the stones used in the shed.
Our cemetery is the McIntyre Cemetery as he donated the land and is buried
there.
I just opened my birthday presents.
Monday the 19th is a national holiday, but I don’t think that
it is because of me. One is a cap that has a picture of Keiko the whale
and the name of Halsa which is Lee Ann’s address. Lee Ann called a little
while ago and said one day they skied and one day they ice-skated the
next.
We had church today and there were
only eight of us, but we are still keeping our little church going. It
started in homestead days in the homes then in the school house and hall
and then moved an old school house in and fixed and had good attendance
and Sunday school, but there aren’t many people left.
