William Wayne Glover was born in Holly Colorado, November 12 1931 to William J. and Beulah Glover. In his early years his family lived on a farm north of Holly. He spent a few of his childhood years in California returning to Holly his senior year of high school and graduating in 1950.
After high school, he joined the United States Air Force for a 4 vear term He was trained as an aerial photographer during the Korean War. It was during this time that he met the Lord. Upon returning home, he worked at a dairy while attending Lamar Community College for one year.
He met Alice Brothers at a dance and later became the milk man who delivered milk to their home. They were married on March 16, 1956 in Raton, New Mexico. He went to work at CF&I in Pueblo for two years.
He returned to Holly to work for the Department of Agriculture. He worked as a conservation technician for U.S.D.A. for 29 years in many different offices, starting out at Holly and transferring to Eads in 1967. He was chosen to teach the Conservation Technician programs at Trinidad Junior College for 2 years and then transferred to the Ogallala Water Management team in Burlington. He retired from the Soil Conservation Service in November 1987. Following his retirement he preformed contract work for the Soil Conservation Service and Farm Service Agency.
For a few years during the summers, he had a lawn sprinkler business that he enjoyed, but had to do something else after suffering a heart attack. At this time he started a new career adjusting crops for the Federal Crop Insurance program and later went to work for American Ag as a contract adjuster. This last year he worked for both Great American Insurance and Heartland Insurance Company. He was proud to have helped many adjusters, but most of all, he was proud to have his two sons return home, after their 20 year Navy careers, to step in and learn crop adjusting and carry on when he was unable to continue.
He refereed high school football for many years and enjoyed all sports in general. He especially enjoyed wintering over in Lake Havasu, Arizona where he spent his time playing golf and visiting with his many friends there. He was always happiest when spending time with family and friends.
In October of 2003 Wayne was immersed in baptism at the First Christian Church here in Eads.
He leaves to mourn his wife, Alice of 47 years, 4 children Peggy Dunlap of Thornton, Richard (Koy) Glover and Bill Glover all of Eads and Patty (David) Miner of Gruver, Texas, 9 grandchildren: Jami, Ryan and Troy Dunlap of Thornton, Pvt. Jeff Dunlap, United States Marine Corp, Camp Pendleton, California. and their father Dewey Dunlap of Northglenn; SN Chelsea Glover, United States Navy, Chevaun Glover of Eads; Garrett, Chandler and Ashlynn Miner of Gruver, Texas, and also 7 dogs and 1 parrot, his mother Beulah Glover of Holly, sisters Margie (Ralph) Springer of Glendale, Arizona; Rozella Weed of Dove Creek, Colorado, brothers Paul (Betty) Glover of Lamar, Dallas (Pauline) Glover of Wellington, Kansas, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father. Bill Glover, and sister Earlene Pettinger.
Funeral services for William Wayne Glover were held on Monday, December 22, 2003 at the United Methodist Church in Eads. Alvin Clamp and Ralph Springer officiated. Casket bearers were: Marvin Watson, Sam Nelson, Marty Miller, John Negley, Ted Delong and Kelly Hebbard. Mrs. Dawn Holland provided the musical selections for the service. Final committal services and military honors were held at the Eads Cemetery in Eads, Colorado. Brown funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
