Kraft Among Military Academy Nominations from Colorado
January 16, 2004
Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave
(CO-04) announced her selection of Colorado high school students that have
been nominated to attend the nation's military academies. The applications
of these students from around the Fourth District will now be reviewed by
the academies for final acceptance. Shawn Kraft of Eads has applied to the
Air Force and West Point.
"During this period of military
action in the Middle East, high school students are becoming increasingly
aware of the vital importance our nation's military serves," said
Musgrave. "Receiving a nomination to attend any one of the academies is a
top honor. I wish these exceptional students luck in getting acceptance by
the academies."
For the class of 2008, Musgrave has
five available vacancies to fill within the four academies, Air Force,
Military, Naval, and Merchant Marine. Several high school students
interested in attending one of the academies applied to Musgrave's office
by the October 2003 deadline as well as submitted for review an
application, transcripts, ACT &/or SAT scores, an essay, and three letters
of recommendation. Each applicant was subsequently interviewed.
