Chamber Honors Citizens

The Eads Chamber of Commerce honored the Citizen of the Year and the Volunteer of the Year during ceremonies held during the Eads Fire Department Annual Chili Supper, held December 2nd, which kicks off the Holiday Season every year.

Honorees for 2003 were Faye Barber, who was named Citizen of the Year; and Gail Crawford who received the Volunteer of the Year award. The honorees were selected based upon nominations received from the public and reviewed by the Eads Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors.

Faye Barber was honored as Citizen of the Year in part due to her tireless work on behalf of others. Faye is active in many charitable organizations and has donated much of her life for the betterment of Kiowa County and Kiowa County residents. Faye’s selfless willingness to work and to be involved in community activities were strong indicators of her worthiness for selection as recipient of the award.

Gail Crawford was selected as Volunteer of the Year thanks to his diligent and tireless volunteer work for the Eads Golf Course. Gail spends countless hours working on the new grass greens at the course and in maintaining the facility for the enjoyment of others.

Coupled with his many years as a coach at Eads High School, the chamber felt Gail Crawford was an ideal choice for Volunteer of the Year.
