Wild Horse Roundup

It’s a little hard to get started this Sunday morning as the lady of the house got up at 5:00 after getting to bed after 11. I finally got up had a roll and coffee and started to write and got the name of the column written then I leaned back and fell asleep. Then Marty called to have me help her. Now I’ll try again.

Saturday afternoon we all went to Hugo to the ball games as Kirsti is a cheerleader. They played Simla and the boys won and the girls lost. We then went to Marty’s for pizza and then she drove us around town and see a lot of beautiful lights. We then got home where Marty and Kirsti done more decorating and it is sure pretty.

John Sinnes called and said Ruth’s brother Lyle had passed away. That makes two nephews I have lost this month. Lyle was a twin and he was handicapped. His twin lives back east and I think he is a coach.

Our congratulations to Kathleen Paintin for the FFA award that was presented to her at the National meeting at Louisville, Kentucky. I think it is great when the kids from our small schools do so good.

Jim Lafferty said that Opal Nicols had fallen and broken her hip. She has been living with some of her kids in Loveland. I believe now she is in a nursing home. I was told that she has always kept her suitcase packed ready to come back to Wild Horse.

I was told that Kenny Paxton had passed away at Kit Carson.

We talked to Steve a few days ago and he said he and a pastor was going to a nursing home where the pastor would deliver the message and Steve would do some singing. Like father, like son? I think he was taking Nathan’s place who with his family is in Mexico City.

A few days ago Lee said she wanted me to take her shopping so when she says jump I say how high. She bought me a Christmas present of a reclining rocker. I guess she got tired of seeing me kick the old one to recline and then it would lean. I guess she still loves me.

Marty has Lee’s Christmas letter all printed, but they might be a little late as they have to be addressed. We are still getting cards and letters from people who only know us through the Wild Horse Roundup.

We have two cooks here that really make the place smell good. Four kinds of cookies, zuchinni bread, peanut butter fudge and I don’t know what they are stirring up now, but it all smells good. They were just talking to Lee Ann and she said they had a foot of snow and her and the gils went up to the forest and cut down their tree as John was working. She said they bought Lutefisk for $2.50 per pound and I gave about $9.00 and it is imported from Norway.

This might be too late for some, but whatever, we hope you have or had a very Merry Christmas.
