Motorcross Comes To Lamar!

The local motocross club, Big
Timbers Dirt Riders, Inc. (BTDR) is pleased to announce completion of
plans to bring sanctioned motocross racing to Lamar. BTDR is affiliated
with the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) and Rocky Mountain
Motocross Association (RMXA). These affiliations allow Big Timbers
Motosports Park to host sanctioned race events that will draw amateur and
professional riders of all ages to Lamar.
AMA/RMXA sanctioned races are
scheduled for May 16th and July 3rd. Fast Company Racing has chosen Big
Timbers Motosports Park in Lamar as the host facility for their Rocky
Mountain Amateur Championships over Labor Day weekend.

In addition to RMXA points races,
BTDR is planning several events throughout the summer for area riders. A
Grand Opening barbecue is also being planned. Area motorcycle riders
interested in joining BTDR are encouraged to contact a board member for
more information. Board members are: Don Yoxsimer, John Davis, Chana Reed,
Kathy McCorkle, Dave Kraft, Don Lynn, Dean Reed, Diana Trumble and Rick
McCorkle. Rick McCorkle has also been named track promoter.
Big Timbers Motosports Park will be
a combined motocross / supercross track located at 9053 Highway 196 at the
former Lamar Speedway track. Track construction is scheduled to begin
early next year.
