In the Club Record Book contest the
order, from first to third, for Secretary Books: Haswell Milemarkers,
Prairie Queen, and Sheridan Lake Livewires, for Treasures Books: Sheridan
Lake Livewires, Prairie Queen, and Haswell Milemarkers, and for Club
Scrapbook: Haswell Milemarkers, Sheridan Lake Livewires, and Prairie
Queen. The Scrapbook awards were sponsored by the Kiowa County Press.
Special awards went to two members
who were Grand Champions at the 2003 Colorado State Fair, Millicent Spady
in Gardening, and Shalyn Laird in Home Environment. Both young ladies
received engraved 4-H clocks sponsored by Barlett and company and By Golly
Liquor, respectively.

(Horticulture unit 3) by Saffer Spray Service, Cardon Brandt (Horticulture
Unit 2) by Eads Auto Supply, Chevaun Glover (Garden unit 3 and
Intermediate Team Creative Cooks) by L and M Processing and Just
Bettys, Shalyn Laird (Intermediate Team Creative Cooks) by Eads
Consumer Supply and C-Store, Vincent Koeller (Entomology unit2) by
Eikenberg Farms, Jayce Negley (Leathercraft unit 1) by Kiowa County
Abstract, and Jennifer Negley ( Ceramics unit 3) by Precision Pest
Control.
Thank you to all award sponsors for
your support of the 4-H program in Kiowa County. It is a great commitment
on your part to support our youth.
The Haswell Milemarkers and the
Sheridan Lake Livewires both received 100 percent completion certificates.
All of their members, who enrolled in projects, completed them by the
specified dates. The Sheridan Lake Livewires were also named the 2003 Top
4-H Club. This is a traveling trophy that is awarded based on a point
system for participation in the 4-H program and is the 19th year it has
been awarded.
