Annual Meeting of Kiowa County Farm Bureau Held
By Laura Negley
November 7, 2003
Kiowa County Farm Bureau would like
to thank everyone who attended the annual meeting on the evening of
October 27. The meal was catered by Sharon Frazee.
This year Rod Johnson was the
featured speaker. His talk revolved around the 2001 Farm Bill. One of the
many points of intent about the Farm Bill is that Ag producers only
receive 18% of funds in the Farm Bill, which receives only 1% of the total
budgeted monies. The remaining funds going to a variety of other agencies
and programs which are not Agriculturally related. He also spoke on the
projects that Kiowa County Economic Development is currently involved in.
George Ellicott was elected to the
position of Vice President of the board. Laura Negley was elected to
another term as Treasurer. The position of President, currently held by
Donald Oswald, and Secretary, held by Cindy Williams will be up for
election at the 2004 annual meeting. If any members would be interested in
filling the position of Women's Chairman please contact any of the board
members. The Board meets monthly at Our Place Restaurant in Eads and all
members are invited to attend any of the meetings.
