Wild Horse Roundup

What a party Scott, Konnie, Bernie and Jeff Koch put on for their dad Karl Saturday in the old pool hall in Kit Carson. There was a large crowd there with many of them from Eads. Of course there were a lot of them I didn’t know, but I made myself acquainted with some. One face I knew, but as usual couldn’t put a name to till he spoke to me was Beatle Koch, who spent a lot of time bowling when I did in Eads. All in all it was a nice party and it looked like Karl enjoyed it all. Lee didn’t go with me, but quite a few asked about her and when I started to leave Konnie filled a plate of goodies to bring home.

As usual things here have come to an end as it did Friday when LeeAnn, Jessi and Jenni headed for Norway. She called about noon Saturday and said everything went well. There was a little snow on the ground. The three weeks seemed like three days. The kids had fun riding Micky, the four wheeler and driving the van from LeeAnns lap. In Norway you don’t drive till you are 18. The 23rd was Lee’s 86th birthday. On Tuesday she had cake and presents, on Wednesday LeeAnn treated us to dinner at Shepps. Thursday was packing and loading the van with all the luggage, which was a lot just leaving me a corner of the seat. In the afternoon was a pep rally and I am glad I left my hearing aids home. Marty fixed popcorn shrimp and then they went to parent-teacher conferences and found out Kirsti is doing quite well. Lee got quite a few cards and phone calls for her birthday which she appreciated.

Lonnie and Noella Johnson spent Wednesday and Thursday in Denver, but she was back on the job Friday.

Friday afternoon I went to Limon so Doctor Hines could fill in about a half of a tooth that broke out. It don’t make my smile any prettier, but it filled in a vacant spot.

The World Series is over and I don’t dislike the Yankees, it don’t hurt for some new faces to show. I still think about my Cubs. Let’s go Broncos now.

John Sinnes called and said he seen the Colorado Springs paper that Velma Perkins had passed away. She was Red Cravens sister and her and her husband, Cliff, worked on the Circle Bar ranch for the Collins family years ago.
