ID Requirements for Voting in PersonOctober 31, 2003 On November 4, you drive up to the polling place where you have voted the last 10 years. You enter the building and the election judge, you have known all those years, greets you warmly by name and then asks for some identification before you can vote. No the election judge is not suffering from short-term memory loss. During the 2003 legislative session, the General Assembly of Colorado passed bills which require a photo identification to be presented at your polling place in order to vote. The most common form of identification is a valid Colorado Driver’s License, however, any ONE of the following will suffice: valid Colorado driver’s license; valid Colorado Department of Revenue issued identification card; valid U.S. Passport; valid Government ID; Pilot’s License; U.S. Military ID; copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, government check, paycheck or other government document that shows the name and address of the elector. These acceptable forms of identification must reflect a Colorado address. If you are going to the polling place to cast your vote, don’t leave home without your required identification. If you have any questions, please contact the County Clerk’s office.
