2003 Colorado Wheat Day to be Held in Englewood

The 2003 Colorado Wheat Day will be
held November 13 and 14 at the Sheraton Denver Tech Center Hotel in
Englewood, the sixth annual event is jointly sponsored by the Colorado
Association of Wheat Growers (CAWG) and the Colorado Wheat Administrative
Committee (CWAC).
Dr. Barry Flinchbaugh will present
the keynote address at Colorado Wheat Day. Dr. Flinchbaugh is a nationally
recognized speaker on agricultural policy and recently served as the
Chairman of the Commission on 21st Century Production Agriculture
(authorized in the 1996 FAIR Act). He is a professor and Extension State
Leader at Kansas State University. His keynote address will focus on the
effect that present and future farm programs and other agricultural
policies will have on Colorado wheat producers, while also explaining to
attendees the process of establishing such policy.
Dr. Flinchbaugh will compliment the
rest of the Colorado Wheat Day program which includes a demonstration of
GPFARM Software developed by USDA/ARS for making on-farm management
decisions and a Risk Management Education Workshop conducted by the
Colorado State University Right Risk Education Team that will focus on
risk resources, risk controls, risk management strategies and other topics
concerning the risks associated with agricultural production.
The 2003 Colorado Wheat Day will be
kicked off with a complimentary reception and welcome dinner on Thursday,
November 13, also at the Sheraton Denver Tech Center Hotel. The reception
will start at 5:30 p.m. and the dinner will begin at 6:30 p.m. Colorado
State Senator and Co-Majority Leader Mark Hillman of Burlington will give
the welcome address at the dinner. CAWG sponsors will also be present with
a mini-trade show. All wheat producers are invited to attend the
complimentary reception and dinner, but are not obligated to attend the
Colorado Wheat Day on Friday, November 14.
