Wild Horse Roundup

Thursday LeeAnn and girls went to Limon where she met Sheila Worley who was her coach while going to college in Sterling. They always enjoy talking over school days. When Sheila would be short a player in any sport she would call on LeeAnn. Her main sports was basketball, field hockey and softball. We drove a lot of miles to watch, even when she went to Laramie. When she played on Larsen’s team in Cheyenne Wells, we went to Salt Lake City to watch.

Friday Bev Bledsoe came by and took me to lunch in Kit Carson. We like to get together once in a while. We used to go deer hunting and our sleeping quarters was my truck tarp tied to some trees. We even brought back some deer. Once I shot one in some down timber and what a chore to get. He said if I done that again I could stay there and eat it.

Friday Dan, Evelyn and Jim Garner stopped and they had an article about a great ballplayer that used to live in Kit Carson. They wondered if I knew her, I didn’t, but was told she is Pat Engel Wiant’s daughter Shelly.

I was in Hugo a few days ago and Marty said come look. There were a little bunch of turkeys walking in the street just like they owned it. We went to the volleyball games, Hugo vs. Cheyenne Wells. Hugo won, but they were sure kept busy.

We had the nicest church service today that was really inspirational. Our Pastor was Cindy Josephson of Calahan. She drove a 15 passenger bus. She brought a children’s choir ranging in age 8-14 and they really done a good job. She played the piano and she really done a great job as Marty wasn’t here. The kids answered Bible questions like they knew what they were talking about. I think we had 23 take Communion and that was a crowd. We went to the schoolhouse for refreshments and birthday cake for Adolph Johnson whose birthday was the 18th. He had a little trouble blowing out the candles as they kept relighting. All in all, it was a great afternoon.

I seen Ina Collett today and she seems to be pretty well recovered from the virus she got from a mosquito bite. She showed me where it bit her on the back of her hand. She said it was in the house. It was nice to see her getting out.

Well our girls just got home (10 p.m. Sunday) from going to Denver on Friday to the dentist for Kirsti and spending time with Steve and some friends of LeeAnns. They seen a corn field that was made into a maze. They brought a ticket that had a picture and it looks very interesting. They done a lot of Christmas shopping that LeeAnn will take home to save the high postage. Tomorrow it’s Colorado Springs for more shopping, the kids say we’ll eat at the Country Buffet.
