Kiowa County Sheriff’s Report

September 25. Sheriff Frazee and Deputy Lafferty obtained an arrest warrant for Michael J. Hernandez, Jr. of La Junta for the theft of a trailer in January from Jerry Seymour’s property at County Roads 4 and L near Arlington. The trailer was recovered in August. Hernandez is being held on a $7,500 bond. On of the reasons that the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office would like for people to contact them is for reasons like this, where we do have thefts occur on the outlying farms. The Sheriff or his deputies cannot be in all places at once, and they do need the help of the county residents in catching these thieves. Therefore, with your help, we will at least deter some of the thefts. We can not stop all of them, but we can at least slow them down and apprehend some of the people doing it. October 3, 9:09 p.m., 15th and Maine Streets, Eads. Monte E. Hartshorn, 49, of Lamar, was arrested on charges of driving under the influence of drugs. Harshorn was transported to Prowers County Jail in lieu of $1000 bond. (Submitted by Captain Ray)
October 3, 10:20 p.m., 13th and Maine Streets, Eads. Rex Gregory Barlow, 20, of Eads, was summonsed in to Kiowa County Court for minor in possession or consumption of ethyl alcohol by an underage person. (Submitted by Deputy LeFlore)
