Kiowa County 4-H Council Report

The 4-H Council met at Haswell on October 6, 2003. The meeting was called to order by Secretary, Shalyn Laird at 7:11. Shalyn turned the meeting over to Jessica James. The following people attended this meeting: Shalyn Laird, Vincent Koeller, Bruce Fickenscher, Kaye Kasza, Brenda Fickenscher, Areta Laird, Jessica and Dawn James, PJ, Shane, Dally and Shane Lessenden, Gail Koeller, Carrie and Shawn Roberson, Brandy, April and Shawn Turcott, Milly and Carol Spady, and Bonnie Lessenden.

Shalyn read the minutes from our previous meeting. Carrie gave the treasurer’s report.

The following reports were given: Bruce reported on the Junior Livestock Sale as being a good sale with the exception of rabbits and chickens.

P.J. reported on the Achievement Banquet for the Haswell Milemarkers 4-H club. She stated that the Banquet will be held at Eads in the Eads Community Building and the theme will be "Fallen for 4-H".

It was reported that this coming year there will be a $5.00 Membership Fee per member.

The activities planned for 4-H week are as follows: Prairie Queen has a display at the Eads post office. Sheridan Lake has recorded radio spots on KVAY and KLMR and a school assembly where the members will show and tell about their projects has been scheduled for Tuesday, October 7 at 8:05 a.m.

The unfinished business consisted of the following: The Friends of 4-H Award was discussed and nominations were taken.

Next the Election of Officers for the 2003-2004 4-H Council were decided upon and are as follows:

Vice President: Jace Roberson

Secretary: Dally Lessenden

Treasurer: Brandy Turcott

Reporter: Vincent Koeller

Leader Advisor: Dawn James

 

New business was the Outstanding Youth Nominations. Each club needs to have the names turned into the Extension Office by Friday, October 10.

The Awards and Award Sponsors sponsorship needs to be turned into the Extension Office by October 14. Also, if they have an award choice this needs to be turned into the Extension Office. Juniors choose from a trophy, sweat shirt or a savings bond and Seniors have a choice of a jacket, buckle, bracelet, sweat shirt, tray or a savings bond.

Livestock records books, treasurer books, secretary books, scrapbooks and junior leadership books are due October 16 by 4:30 p.m. at the Extension Office.

November 17 - Executive Council, 7:00 p.m., Eads

November 24 - 4-H Council, 7:00 p.m., Plainview
