East End Events
Kami Stum
October 10, 2003
It's hard to believe that the first
nine weeks of school is almost over and volleyball season is coming to an
end. The weather has been really nice and I'm sure it's only a matter of
time before it gets much cooler. It's already a week into October and it
won't be long until basketball season and the holidays!
Friday evening, I received a phone
call from Katha Greuel of Germany. Katha was an exchange student to
Plainview last school year and she stayed with Michael and Sharon Arns and
family. It was good to talk to her on the phone, but even better when she
walked into the room so I could talk to her in person! Katha is visiting
her friends in the Plainview community for the next few weeks and
surprised almost everyone with her visit.
Brady Butler was home this weekend
to visit his parents Dale and Gayla. Brady attends college in Clarendon,
Texas.
Ron and Ruth Buller have enjoyed the
company of their grandkids' Katie, Matthew, and Levi the last few days
after school while the kids' parents have been harvesting.
Tom Scott and Sharon Scott traveled
to Grand Junction Friday to see Mark and Michelle Scott, Ryan, Taylor,
Ryley, and Breeanna. Breeanna was baptized on Sunday and Tom and Sharon
returned home Monday.
Sunday, Mary Louise Huddleston and
Bernice Tuttle took Mildred Crockett out for lunch for her birthday. They
enjoyed time spent together and ate at Chez W. Duvall's in Granada.
Hazel Woelk has had company for the
last few days. Dewey and Virginia Groover of Florida have been visiting.
Dewey is a former pastor at the Sheridan Lake Bible Church.
On Sunday evening, Jim and Mary Anne
Richardson held a fish fry in honor of the birthdays of Ron Buller, Jim
Richardson, and Dewey Groover. Approximately 50 people enjoyed the meal
and celebration. Afterwards, Dewey preached at the Sunday evening service
at the Sheridan Lake Bible Church.
Carl and Freda Schmidt and Bernice
Tuttle were just some in attendance Sunday for the fish fry. David
Richardson of near Ada, Oklahoma, was also in attendance.
Wednesday, Carl Schmidt attend the
La Junta livestock commission sale in La Junta.

Monday, Freda Schmidt and Lisa
Larkin left for Salina, Kansas, where they attended a few workshops. They
returned home Wednesday.
Cheri Hopkins attended a baby shower
for Clayton McPherson Sunday in Lamar. Clayton is the son of Cody and
Amanda (Bond) McPherson.
Evan Hopkins and Jen Poore traveled
to Hays, Kansas, this weekend. While they were in the area, they also
visited Jen's parents, Larry and B.J. Poore in Woodston, Kansas.
Thursday evening, Henriette Wicke,
Felix Henke, Brian Ngai, and Linly, Sherell, and Kami Stum enjoyed playing
pinochle for a few hours.
Saturday, the Plainview junior class
held a bake sale in Lamar.
Katha Greuel, Kami Stum, Henriette
Wicke, Felix Henke, and Brian Ngai went shopping a little bit on Saturday
and then returned to Katha's house for a movie.
Megan Fickenscher was home this
weekend from college at Ft. Hays State University. While she was home, she
threw a surprise birthday party for her mother Brenda. Monte, Linda, Kami,
and Kirbi Stum; Henriette Wicke; Tammy Crockett; Jeanette Wollert; George,
Tina, Jess, and Tawna McDonald; Cheri Hopkins; Dale and Lesa Nolan; and
Brenda's husband Bruce all helped her celebrate her birthday. They enjoyed
a Mexican meal and visiting.
Sunday, Monte, Linda, Kami, and
Kirbi Stum hosted Sherell and Linly Stum; Jay, Tara, and Savannah Stum;
Felix Henke, and Brian Ngai for a birthday dinner in honor of Henriette
Wicke. They had a nice meal, followed with cake, ice cream, and presents.
Sunday afternoon, quite a crowd of
people gathered at Michael and Sharon Arns' home to eat, visit, watch
movies, and see Katha. Many of Katha's friends stopped by at some point
during the day. Everyone had a good time.
