Health Care Insurance is a costly
but needed service for most Americans and their families and Colorado’s
Child Health Plan Plus (CHP +) is available to assist needy families in
obtaining such health insurance.
CHP + is a state sponsored program
that enables thousands of Coloradoans to obtain health insurance for their
children. To be eligible, children and youth must be 18 years of age or
less, not be eligible for Medicaid, and must live in a financially
qualified family. Applicants are not required to apply for Medicaid prior
to obtaining an application for CHP + since CHP + will determine any
possibility that a family might be eligible for Medicaid.
The financial qualifications are
based upon family size and family net income after allowable deductions.
For example the maximum income level for a family of 4, after allowable
deductions, is $2,629 per month. Maximum income for a family of 6 is
$3,523 per month.
