Men in ServiceOctober 3, 2003 Army Pvt. Joe L. Musgrave has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Georgia. During the eight weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman. Musgrave is a 1993 graduate of Eads High School.

Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Joshua W. Sims, grandson of William Sims of Eads, recently departed for a six-month deployment while assigned to the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, home based in Norfolk, Virginia. Carriers like the USS Enterprise are deployed throughout the world to maintain U.S. presence and provide rapid response in times of crisis. Sims is a 1998 graduate of Skagway City High School of Skagway, Alaska and joined the Navy in August 1998.
