September 26, 2003
Amity Mutual Irrigation Company concluded a
$350,000 reconstruction of the Nee No She dam with a dedication ceremony
last Wednesday afternoon.
The dam, located on the southeastern edge of Nee
No She Reservoir, was originally constructed in 1896 and forms the 3,696
acre reservoir, which has a storage capacity of 60,618 acre-fee at the
normal high water level. The reservoir is part of a system that also
includes Nee Gronda, Nee So Pah and Nee Skak, collectively known as the
Great Plains Reservoirs.

The dedication was made in honor and memory of
Lewis Davis, a respected and long-time Amity employee. Mr. Davis passed
away last year. Members of his family we present to receive a plaque
commemorating the dedication ceremony and his nearly 40 years of service.
In addition, a stone plaque has been set in the structure in memory of Mr.
Davis service. A second plaque names Amity officials.
Rehabilitation of the structure included relining
four outlets with steel pipe, new sluice gates and hoists, and a rebuilt
stilling basin.
