Wild Horse Roundup

Well, number seven (great grandchild that is) came along Monday the 25th. Isaac Nathan arrived to live with Nathan and Berenice and Viviana. Number eight has been ordered and will arrive this winter sometime. I’m glad I don’t have to keep track of birthdays.

I was told that Colvin’s got 1.30 inches of rain last Monday and we got none, but Friday we got 0.60 inches, too. That made us feel good. That is the most for over two months, so it was really appreciated.

I was in Limon Thursday and I went to the museum which I really enjoyed all the things they have. They have a great quilt display and I enjoyed Helen Bledsoe’s paintings that are on display there. I signed the guest book and I seen the lady that was taking care of it looking at the book and then, she told me that she enjoyed reading my column. She invited me to a picnic they were having Saturday, but I said that was Kit Carson Day.

They have been showing on TV about the 100th anniversary of the Harley Davidson Motorcycles. When I was a kid in Illinois, carnivals would come to town and they would have this wall of death. It was round like a silo and the riders would ride their motorcycles in it and really come close to the top where people would look over.

Kit Carson Day was Saturday and the weather was cool, but not bad. We enjoyed the rodeo which was held at Dennis Mattics’ arena. Clax Duvall was presented a gift which if my hearing was right, it will be a coat when it gets here. Clax has prepared his arena for years. This year, if you can believe it, it was too muddy. A large crowd enjoyed the barbecue. That was new to Kirsti. There was a nice parade and the Good Scout Award went to a real deserving person, Marilyn Bullock.

Marty, Kirsti and Lee left after the parade. Lee to go home and Marty and Kirsti to Limon to meet Ann Blomgren who taught in Hugo when LeeAnn attended. Kirsti went home with her and will visit WaterWorld where Ann’s daughter works. I got to visit a lot of people and went to the Melodrama which was good and really enjoyed Glen Derby’s old act of Ro-Ho the Chicken.
