The Kiowa County Museum is proud to
announce a new Page from the Past in
our Cowboy
Display room. Julia Mae "Sis" (Owens) Wilgus presented on indeterminate
loan this panorama of the life of her father. Harry Owen,
who was a long time cowboy and rancher in this area.
He worked for the Eads Livestock Company north of town, and
in 1932 bought his own ranch. Sis and her husband Delbert
will be at the museum Friday and Saturday mornings
to visit with old and new friends about her father's ranching days.
During fair week, the museum will
open after the breakfast Thursday and Friday
mornings, and about 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, and expect visitors until about
noon each day. We do not plan to be in during the
afternoons, but would be happy to open on request
for those who would like to spend more time seeing all our pages from the
past.
If the weather is good, the museum
will keep its regular afternoon hours until the
end
of September, at which time we will close for the winter. We have added a
number of items, some of which are only on loan for
a year or two - so of you haven't visited lately you
are in for a pleasant surprise.
