Wild Horse Roundup

We had a very pleasant surprise on Friday when Phil (Pony Kid) Pollreis and wife Madonna stopped in. He is a one man band and plays at nursing homes. He used to play for dances and other events. I remember when he was a kid and showed calves at the fair. They were good ones and he won a lot of blue ribbons. We sure had a nice visit as we hadn’t seen them in a long time. They brought us a couple of Rocky Ford cantaloupes, which are sure good. They were going up near Denver.

I read Eric Escudero’s column that he wrote about the Cheyenne County caring people that attended Jesse Bogenhagen’s funeral. He wrote about the friends that turned out to console Nancy and family. I’m sorry I couldn’t attend, but I had been up practically all night and just couldn’t make it.

Monday Marty took Kirsti to a dentist in Denver to check the braces she has on her teeth. They went on Sunday and spent the night at Steve’s. They had to hurry back as Marty and Lee had doctor’s appointment to get their hands checked. He said Lee’s was fine and Marty got a shot near her wrist.

While sitting here this beautiful Sunday morning Lee said look there goes a girl jogging by. I got up and looked and she was moving right along. I looked for an escort car, but didn’t see one, but there surely was.

LeeAnn called Saturday to see how Kirsti got along her first three days of school. She told her and then had to repeat it to Jessi and Jenni. She said she would like to send us some of their rain as they had been getting it for days. I seen on TV about age limits for driving might change from 16 to 18. In Norway age limit is 18. If it was that way here you wouldn’t see so many cars around the school.

I’m not having much luck yelling at the Rockies lately as they don’t seem to pay attention.

A niece of mine was talking to a fellow in a store in Colorado Springs and he said he lived north of Punkin Center and she said she had relation at Wild Horse. He said he reads my column, so she told him her uncle writes it. She couldn’t remember his name.
