Progressive FCE Club Meets
By Doris Lessenden
August 29, 2003
Members of the Eads Progressive FCE
Club met at the Senior Center August 21st with Maxine Mays as the hostess.
They were pleased to have Sis Howard’s daughter, Dr. Angela Howard as a
guest from Texas.
President Maxine and Vice President,
Zelda Peterson, led the ladies in the reading of the creed. The members
responded to roll call by relating "A new household hint I’ve read about
or used". A number of ideas were shared such as the wonders of an aluminum
blanket that costs about $2.00 used in cooler to keep foods cold for days
on a camping trip, or the wonders of just plain water ands vinegar for
cleaning. Ruth Wissel gave the treasurers and secretary’s report. During
the Inspiration time, Doris Lessenden showed photos she had taken of youth
in various activities this summer because she feels that youth is really
our inspiration and our hope.
The members laid many more plans for
the programs, gifts, and decorations for the District 7 Achievement Day
which we will host on October 2nd in Eads.

The highlight of the meeting was the
program on the International Peace Gardens. Kaye Kasza showed slides and
photos of these gardens which are on the borders of North Dakota-USA and
Manitoba, Canada. The FCE clubs have donated money for years and years as
have other groups such as the Lions Clubs, and the Masons to maintain
lovely floral gardens, chapels, and meeting rooms at the compound. Various
camps and conferences are held here year around. Tourists can camp or rent
motel rooms, take tours and enjoy many other events.
Maxine served an angel food
–pineapple cake with nuts and coffee during the social hour with the help
of Kaye Kasza.
