"Gift Pack" New Class in Food Preservation

A new class has been added in the Food Preservation department at the Kiowa County Fair. This "Gift Pack" class calls for an assortment of three jars of preserved foods, labeled and packed for gift giving. The jars can contain canned fruit, canned vegetables and/or meat, jams and jellies, and/or pickles and relishes. The jars will not be opened, but will be judged on the combination of color, variety, and food preservation process and quality.

All preserved foods must be in standard containers, and must be labeled with name or contents and date, processing method, and time. All open class exhibits must be brought to the community building on September 11 between 7:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. Call the Extension Office at (719) 438-5321 if you have questions.
