Wild Horse Roundup

This week has been pretty sad around here. Services were held for Judith Holt on Wednesday, her 94th birthday. She was an old friend who was our postmaster for 42 years. She had been in Cheyenne Manor. Ernie Jones, who also was a resident there, also passed away this week. Services for him were this morning (Saturday). It seems like someone has to pass away to get to see old friends we seldom see.

George and Pearl Pfalzgraff came to see us Tuesday evening. They were here to attend Judith Holt’s funeral. It is nice to see these old friends who we have known since we were kids.

The Ernie Hammer’s went to Colorado Springs to see the Baxter Black program. I done something for them I never done before. I fed pellets to about a hundred goats.

Christine Paintin is moving to Flagler where she has found a job. I don’t know that it is the kind she was looking for, but it will do until she finds what she really wants.

Tuesday I saw a motorcycle stop across the street and the man was taking pictures of the hall and old café. Nosy me, I went over and asked if they looked interesting and he said yes. He said they were from Auckland, New Zealand, and were on a six week tour of the United States. His name was the same as our son, Steve. We get quite a few people stop, quite a few like our school. Since it has been remodeled it doesn’t look its age. It was built in 1912 by some of the Sanders family.

It seems like when we go somewhere we see someone we seldom see. Lee went to Hugo for therapy on her hand and there was Tom and Carol Ackerman of Cheyenne Wells.

Last Monday Marty took Kirsti to school in Hugo and found out about her classes and met some people. Saturday evening they went to a back to school picnic sponsored by the volley ball team. Marty said it wasn’t a real big crowd, but was fun and Kirsti met people she will be going to school with. Marty said lots of food was left.

Susie Paintin went up to the school a few days ago and when she stepped in it seemed like a steam bath. A pipe had a leak. Thursday Tony and Darrell took it apart with me watching. Now to put it back together.
