Two Lamar men were arrested Saturday for their
role in supplying and selling drugs to Kiowa County residents. The arrests
follow a lengthy investigation of regional drug trafficking; the
investigation will continue.
Members of the Prowers County Drug Task Force,
along with Captain Chad Ray of the Kiowa County Sheriff’s Office, obtained
warrants for the arrest of Nathan Wayne Brown, 20, and Jacob Ray Cooper,
20, both of Lamar, based on information on the flow of drugs between Lamar
and Eads.

Cooper was arrested around 6:30 a.m. at a home in
Lamar, and has been charged with distribution of marijuana, a class four
felony, and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana, a class two
petty offence. Brown was arrested about an hour later at another Lamar
residence and faces the same charges. Both men are being held at Prowers
County Jail in lieu of $24,000 bonds.
Captain Ray stated Monday evening that he
anticipated further investigations within the Eads town limits and all of
Kiowa County, though the public may not see "overnight results."
