Obituary-Billy Dale Miller, 78Billy Dale (B.D.) Miller was born in Enid, Oklahoma, September 29, 1924, to William F. and Matilda Miller. His older sister, Wilma, was there to welcome him home. He entered school in Enid, where he was a mischievous child, gently pulling on the girls’ curls to get their attention. He met the love of his life, Virginia Lucille Will, at a dance in Enid. They were engaged in 1943 before B.D. entered the military. He served in World War II during the Philippines campaign. He received the Purple Heart and an honorary discharge. He was flown to California to the hospital for treatment before being released to return to Enid. When B.D. returned to Enid, he married Lucille October 5, 1946. The couple honeymooned in Canada and the northern United States before returning to Cheyenne Wells to help with the maize harvest. They then returned to Oklahoma to pack and begin their move to the farm, located one mile west of where Louis Engelbrecht lives today. Shortly after this, they found out they were expecting an addition to their family. They went to Enid to have the baby, a girl, they named Eulalah Jane. She was born September 28, 1947, just one day too early to be the birthday present they had hoped for. The new family stayed in Enid for a few months visiting with friends and family before returning to Colorado to enjoy family and farm life. They moved to the house on Road 43 so they would have more room for their growing family. So, when Sandra Jo made her appearance January 8, 1950, in Enid, the family grew again. In 1961 they built the "new" house they had dreamed about on Road 44. In 1977, they bought the GM dealership along with their daughters and sons-in-law, and ran that with the farm/ranch. Bill and Lucille enjoyed spending time at their home in Green Mountain Falls and traveling in their motor home. Papa enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids. Bill was a joy to his family and friends, and will be greatly missed by all. Billy Dale passed away Tuesday, August 12, after falling ill. He is survived by his wife, Lucille; daughters, Eulalah ((Lolly) Dean) Schick and Sandra (Ed) Spainhower; granddaughters Lori (Mark) Weiand, Lindi (Paul) Dwyer, Nicole (Jeff) Clyncke and Lacy Schick; great grandchildren Ashley and Zackery Clyncke, Jayda and Josylin Dwyer, and Brock Weiand, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Billy Miller were held on Friday, August 15, 2003 at the Cheyenne Wells Christian Church with Rev. Bill Viergutz and Pastor Paul Gifford officiating. Diane Harms was the pianist with Pam Helm and Ambie Culle as the vocalists. Casket bearers were Don Howard, Steve Smith, Jeff Clyncke, Paul Dwyer, Mark Weiand, Perry Will, Harold Gillihan and David Smith. Billy’s granddaughters, great granddaughters and great grandsons were the honorary casket bearers. Following the graveside committal services, full military honors were provided by the William Kimmell V.F.W. Post of Cheyenne Wells. Brown Funeral home was in charge of arrangements. |
