Plainview School Slated to Start Classes August 18

Enrollment: School will start, Monday, August 18 for grades 6-12. Grades K - 5 will start Wednesday, August 20. School will be in session Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Bus drivers will contact students with pick up times. To enroll, new students must present a birth certificate, a copy of their social security card and a health certificate, which verifies inoculations. We would appreciate any new students calling the school so we can get you on our enrollment list and a bus route.

Kindergarten age requirement is age 5 by September 15. Kindergarten will be from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday this year. They will ride the bus in the morning and eat lunch here. We will run a bus taking them home at one o'clock.

Enrollment Papers: We will hand out enrollment papers to students the first day of school. To cut down on paperwork, we will give each family one copy of our handbook. I will use the enrollment cards and early dismissal papers from last year for Kindergarten through 5th grade. If you have any changes on these you will need to call the office and give us the changes.

Sports Physical: Students in grades 5-12 must have a sports physical to participate in any school sport or cheerleading. Forms are available at the school or at area clinics. Students will not be allowed to start sports practice without a current physical form. Coaches will be in contact with athletes regarding practice dates and times. Mr. Wilson will be coaching high school volleyball. Mrs. Fickenscher will be coaching junior high.

Student Insurance: Student accident insurance is not carried by the school. We will send home information for optional enrollment with a student health company. This is not through the school; we only hand out the information.

Meal Prices: K-5 - $1.25; 6-12 - $1.50; Adults - $2.25; Extra Milk - $ .25. We do not have lunch cards. We send lunch bills out at the end of every month.

Preschool: The age requirement for preschool is age 4 by September 15. We will have preschool starting in October, the teacher will send out information at a later date.

School Information: Monthly calendars, as well as periodic updates, are handed out to all students to take home. Please encourage your student to bring them home to you. There are always extra ones in the office if you want to pick one up when you are at the school. We will put any school cancellation or early dismissal on Lamar radio stations KLMR and KVAY.
