Myra Watts Crowned Kids Rodeo QueenAugust 8, 2003 Myra Leann Watts was crowned Kids Rodeo Queen at the 66th annual event on Friday the first of August. Myra, better known as Annie, is the 18-year-old granddaughter of James and Charlotte Cook and Shirley Watts and is the great granddaughter of Myra Watts. Annie has competed in this event since she was 8-years-old. When asked if she had anything to say her advice was for all the participants and any future "kids." "When you compete in any rodeo event or Princess contest, don’t give up, keep trying, keep riding, keep smiling, because there’s nothing better for the inside of a child than the outside of a horse!" Kids Rodeo is held every year the first weekend of August. Contact the La Junta Chamber of Commerce for more information about the rodeo.
