Wild Horse Roundup

We had a very pleasant surprise Tuesday when Harold and Verna Ebright of Eads stopped by for a visit. I hadn’t seen him for a long time, but I do see her when I stop by and visit Mike Lening in the bank. I remember one of Harold’s highlights when he bowled a 300 game and of course there was baseball.

We had a call from Sinnes a few days ago and they are doing pretty good after their accident, except his feet swell. John had some cracked ribs they didn’t realize at first.

We had a nice letter from Betty Lou George Dunivan. She had read in my news about the Demings starting our Sunday School in the ‘20’s. They used to park their house car at the George place four miles west of Wild Horse. We sent her a letter we got from Demings daughter who is in Africa.

Well we had another lightning show last night, but that is all. Maybe today it will come.

They were showing a lot of grasshoppers on TV a few days ago and we sure don’t need those. I remember them years ago going down the cow trails two and three deep and covering the fence posts and poles. The government sent out spreaders, for poison, pulled by pickups. It was mixed here in town and out all around the area with five pickups and spreaders.

Friday evening I attended a barbecue hosted by Jeremy McNeely. It was held for people to come and pick up their books they bought from him. He had done the writing and an artist from Canada had done the pictures. He was there and I got to visit with him. There was a nice crowd with lots of visiting and lots of good eats. It was held in the old pool hall where the guys used to gather on Saturday to play pool and the card game pitch. It was fun.
