East End Events

The 4-H Exhibit Day will be hosted by the Sheridan Lake Livewires 4-H Club at Plainview School on Monday, August 4. Judging begins at 10 a.m. For lunch, the Livewires will sell lasagna, garlic bread, relish plate, brownies, and tea. That evening they will add a tossed salad and choice of brownies or cake. Then, at 3:30, the Fashion Revue judging will take place followed by the public Fashion Revue, Awards Program, and Food Auction at 7 p.m. Adopted grandparents are invited, as well as the general public.

The high school girls will begin volleyball practice August 11! School is just around the corner and starts August 18.

Hazel Woelk was surprised with coffee and friends at her house Saturday, July 19, for her 85th birthday. Those friends who helped her celebrate include: Dot Crockett; Delores Specht; Fannie Murdock; Verna Hallock; Bernice Tuttle; Betty Kershner; Marge Peters; Jennie Woelk; Janice Ballah; Ruth Adamson; Randy and Margaret Richardson; Ruth Buller; June Beaman; Mary Ann Richardson; Mary Louise Huddleston; Merle and Carol Shalberg; Bill and Charlotte Woelk; Dirk and Pam Woelk; Susan Miller; Waneeta Barr; Denis and Theresa Weber; Larry and Barb Gitchell; Dorcas, Amanda, and Abby Berggren; Donna, Jonathan, Brittany, Samantha, Madison, and Levi Splitter; Gloria, Christine, Melissa, and Shane Curtis; Zelpha Woelk; Gwyn Snyder; and Lisa and Shaelynn Compton.

Saturday night, Brenda Fickenscher, Susan Greenfield, Ruth Fees, and Cheri Hopkins enjoyed dinner at the new restaurant in Granada: Chez W. DuVall.

Rhonda and Emily Koehn of Breckenridge were here this past week. They visited family in Tribune, Kansas, and Towner and Saturday night, they stayed with Clovis and Lorene Uptergrove.

Craig and Joane Black of Emporia, Kansas, stopped by to visit Mary Louise Huddleston Thursday.

Craig and Laurie Scott and family of Austin, Texas, arrived in Towner Thursday to spend some time with family. Saturday, the family and Sharon Scott traveled to Grand Junction to see Mark and Michelle and family. They returned back to Towner Monday with Mark and Michelle's three oldest, Ryan, Ryley, and Taylor. Craig and Laurie and family left Wednesday.

Linly, Sherell, Jay, Tara, Savannah, Monte, Linda, Kami, Kirbi, Lane, Tammy, Misty, and Chris Stum; Carina Fischer; and Julie, Brooke, Tylee, and Lane Frandsen traveled to the Eads lakes Wednesday to spend the day fishing, tubing, swimming, and skiing. Then, all the Stums and Carina returned to Monte and Linda's home for dinner that evening.

Thursday, Carina Fischer and Kami Stum traveled to Garden City, Kansas, to shop.

 

Saturday evening, a small group of people showed up at the Sheridan Lake Bible Church for a potluck and a presentation on Misty, Chris, and Kami Stum's mission trip to Peru. They all had a good time visiting, eating, seeing a food skits, and hearing of God's work. Misty, Chris, and Kami would like to thank everyone who was present and would also like to thank the church for hosting them.

Lane, Tammy, Misty, Chris, Monte, Linda, Kami, Kirbi, Linly, and Sherell Stum; Carina Fischer; Sean Harkness, Jerry, Jennifer, Quinton Weber, and other friends traveled to Dodge City, Kansas, Sunday to see MercyMe in concert. They stopped in Garden City, Kansas, on their way home and had dinner.

Last Wednesday, Kathy Specht enjoyed lunch in Garden City, Kansas, with some friends from her teaching days in Garden City.

Kathy Specht also made a trip to Verdigree, Nebraska, for an uncle's funeral.

Floyd and Wynona Barnes traveled to Littleton to see their son Roland, daughter-in-law Lisa, and grandson Quinn. They helped build a sandbox for Quinn and enjoyed the weekend.

Ron and Ruth Buller recently returned from a family reunion in Junction City, Kansas. They enjoyed their time with family.

Dale and Gayla Butler went to Dodge City, Kansas, Sunday to see Philip, Kristi, and Ashtyn Butler.
