Wild Horse Roundup

I think this weekend was a first for
me as I missed the Tumbleweed Festival in Cheyenne Wells. Family comes
first, so I went to Denver with Marty and Lee for a gathering of family
and friends for a baby shower for our grandson Nathan’s wife, Bernice. She
is expecting a boy about August 21. That will make us seven great
grandkids. There was a large crowd and Steve barbequed hamburgers, hot
dogs and bratwurst. It was a nice time and we got home about noon, in time
for 2:30 church. We had quite a crowd, all five of us.
Luanna Naugle had surgery on her
neck for a blood clot. We were told that Allen went after her today
(Sunday). I understand that she can’t work or drive for quite some time.
Noella Johnson has been taking care of the Kit Carson Post Office and Sue
Paintin takes care of the one here. Our prayer is that she continued
getting better and will be up and going soon.
Chuck Keller called me the 15th
and wondered if it was as hot 64 years ago. That is when his folks, Owen
and Alice were married in Lamar. Peg Pursley and I stood up with them. Lee
said it was hot, but all I remember was trouble getting a license and
finding a preacher.
