East End Events

I hope that everyone had an excellent Father’s Day. Recent days have seen many area farmers hurriedly planting fall crops and preparing for the coming harvest, which is nearly upon us. Over the next few weeks, please be aware of increased traffic and have a safe and abundant harvest.

Congratulations to Brady Butler, 2003 graduate of Plainview High School, on being awarded the Ford Country scholarship. Butler, the son of Dale and Gayla Butler, will be attending Clarendon College in Clarendon, Texas next fall and plans to study ranch and feedlot operation.

Mark and Michelle Scott and family of Grand Junction spent this past weekend in the area visiting Dick and Sharon Scott. Saturday and Sunday Dick and Mark took part in the Southeast Colorado Fishing tournament and at the end of the event, were awarded the title of championship team. Also, Saturday night, Ian, Jerene, and Tori DeBono of Granada, Mary Louise Huddleston, Bernice Tuttle, and Tom Scott joined the group for a surprise celebration in honor of Michelle’s fortieth birthday.

Joe and Teresa Uptergrove of Idaho Falls, Idaho, Kim Freeman of Trinidad, and Rhonda and Emily Koehn of Breckenridge, along with Larry and Judy Tuttle and Clovis and Lorene Uptergrove traveled to Spearman, Texas over the weekend to attend an Uptergrove family reunion. They all enjoyed the opportunity to visit with Clovis’s brothers and his sister and their families.

Linly and Sherell Stum traveled to Brighton Friday afternoon and then returned home Saturday.

Monte, Linda, and Kirbi Stum, Lane and Tammy Stum, Jay, Tara, and Savannah Stum, and Bruce and Julie Frandsen and family joined Linly and Sherell Stum for dinner Sunday evening.

Five Day Club will be held June 23-27 from 9 a.m. to 10:15 in Monte and Linda Stum’s yard.
