Charlotte Phillips Receives Award

The Kiowa County Child Support Enforcement program, operated by the Kiowa County Department of Social Services, was recently honored by the State of Colorado as the winner of the Outstanding Small County award for performance in the area of child support enforcement.Only one county each year is selected to receive this prestigious award, which is determined by statistical performance in several state-mandated goals, that each county is required to attain. The goals include such things as the overall amount of dollars collected for child support, increases in collections from the previous year, cost effectiveness of the program, and other related goals.

"To win this award is a real testimony to the skills and abilities of Charlotte Phillips in the area of child support enforcement", stated Social Services Director Dennis Pearson; "Charlotte is one of the best legal techs in the state and this award definitely proves that".Pearson went on to say that "the honor of this award is that it is presented solely for statistical performance and effectiveness of the program. There are no nominations for the award and it’s not arbitrary in any way. It is based entirely upon effectiveness of the program and the excellent work of Charlotte Phillips."Ironically, Phillips was unable to attend the recent Child Support Enforcement conference, where the award was presented, due to medical reasons. Anita Kuhn, a legal technician for Bent County accepted the award on Phillips’ behalf at the conference and presented the award to Phillips in a surprise ceremony at the Kiowa County courthouse last week.
