2003 KVAY FreedomFest to be Held July 5

"We are so excited to have such incredible community support for our first annual FreedomFest like Country Acres, Motel, RV & Limousines," Bob DeLancey said. "We are also 0leased to announce the additional sponsors of the first annual KVAY Country Acres, Motel, RV & Limousine FreedomFest including Wal-Mart, Valley State Bank, Callison Insurance, Cook Oil ATV Sales, Colorado Eye Associates, Anything Automotive, Lamar Daily News and Pepsi Cola.

The Children’s Area will be known as the Wal-Mart Kids Zone. Wal-Mart is the Children’s Area sponsor and is providing some of the activities for the children’s area. Some of the activities include face painting, air brush tattoos, braiding wraps provided by Lamar Community College Cosmetology, a Double Jeopardy Obstacle Course with slide, pedestal joust arena, 9 hole mini golf course, bungee run, moon bounce and Morlan Pony Rides.

Continuous music on the main stage will include Deryl Dodd, Kirk Dillen, Jill King, Kacey Miller, Albany Self. Also for adults there will be a 24 foot JW Rock Climbing Wall and Sumo Wrestling.

 

The KVAY Country Acres & Limousine FreedomFest is an outdoor festival celebrating our independence and is produced by KVAY 105.7 fm benefiting the Lamar Area Hospice. Admission and entertainment is free, some activities will charge, food and beverages will be sold at the event and parking is $5.00, but keep in mind, this is a fund-raiser for the Lamar Area Hospice, who is celebrating their 20th anniversary of dedicated services to the terminally ill of our communities without regard to their ability to pay..

The FreedomFest will be held from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 5 at the Prowers County Fairgrounds, with fireworks (weather permitting) at the conclusion of the festivities, supervised by the Lamar Fire Department.

Pepsi has also donated two Coleman backyard grills for KVAY to give away at the event. Participants can register for the chance to win a grill at the Information Booth located near the main entrance. Participants must be present to win. Drawings will take place throughout the afternoon for a grill and other prizes to be given away.
