District VI Holds 4-H CampJune 13, 2003 Summer is here, and its time for some 4-H fun! This was the attitude of 77 youth as they descended on Red Mountain Youth Camp, near Beulah, for the annual District VI 4-H Camp. Twenty-one counselors, teens from around the district, planned and hosted the camp. The 56 campers were able to participate in science, archery, rockets, and GPS workshops, as well as sports, hikes, and crafts. They also enjoyed challenge games, relays, The Redneck Games (a spoof on the Olympics), sumo wrestling, a Wet ‘n’ Wild water fight, and educational sessions presented by the Division of Wildlife. Both evenings of the three-day camp featured a dance and campfire with songs, stories, and reflections. Campers had the opportunity to prepare for a fancy banquet as they sat at the ‘Manners Table’ during meals, complete with real tableware, candles, a tablecloth, flowers, and waiters. The camp culminated on Wednesday, June 4, with a shirt-signing ‘Memory Time’ and a slide show of camp. Thank you to all of the adults that served as cooks and chaperones, and to director Rod Buchele!
