Wild Horse Roundup

Well I’ve lost what few notes I had, so I will start with something I remember. Marty and I went to Lamar Friday, and the day started out great, as we found some parts we needed and Marty’s shopping went well and I got carried away and bought Lee a new washer. We stopped to get a cold drink and from then on, things fell apart. The van wouldn’t start so we called Don Lening and he sent a couple fellows who pulled it to a garage to be fixed on Saturday. How to get home was the next thing. After some phone calls we got a hold of our friend Bev Middleton there in Lamar and she let us use her car to get home. We went back Saturday afternoon and for $25 for a new fuel pump we were on our way.

Darrell Schallenberger took Yvonne to Denver to have surgery on her hand. We haven’t heard how it is, but I’m sure it is all right.

Our mailman, John Higgins, is back driving his route again after having knee surgery. I think he is pretty tough to be back driving all those miles every day.

We called Kirsti today to wish her a happy 17th birthday the third. She is very excited about coming here to go to school in Hugo and staying with Marty.

We visited Tony and Brenda Hammer Sunday afternoon, and we enjoyed looking at his arrow heads and rattlesnake rattles. It seemed so familiar, as we used to visit the Wilkerson’s there and play a lot of pitch.

There was a fellow who stopped here today and wanted to look at my 730 John Deere and I asked him where he was from and he said Galesburg, Illinois, which is 18 miles from Monmouth which is where I was born. He said things were about the same as ever.
