Kiowa County Sheriff’s Report

[Editor’s note: The Kiowa County Sheriff’s Report will be appearing regularly in the Press, and replaces the Eads Police Report. Minor incidents, such as "dog at large," are not included in the report.]
May 23, 6:00 p.m., 12th and Luther Streets, Eads. Responded to the Salvation Army store due to smoke coming from inside the building. The Eads Fire Department responed. Upon further investigation, the water heater was found to be the cause. No structural damage occurred. (Reported by Captain Ray)
May 23, 11:00 p.m. County Road E, two miles east of County Road 49. Responded to a one vehicle rollover crash. Two parities in the vehicle were taken to the hospital by private vehicle. Undersheriff Richardson responded to the scene, and Captain Ray responded to the hospital to assist the Colorado State Patrol in their investigation. Alcohol appeared to be a contributing factor. May 24, 2003, 4:05 p.m. State Highway 287 at mile marker 112. Margit Biba, 37, of Jacksonville, Florida, was cited for unsafe passing on the left when not clear to oncoming traffic.
