Wild Horse RoundupMay 16, 2003 Mother’s Day it is a great day to treat her the way she should be for the many things he has done over the years to keep her family together. Bertha and Elmer Mayhan’s daughter, Virginia, is here to make arrangements for a family gathering to celebrate her folks’ 65th wedding anniversary which is May 22. They are having a family dinner at the school house. I think a card shower would be nice. Chuck Keller called Tuesday and he said he was on the way to Denver taking his wife, Pat, for knee surgery Wednesday. I haven’t heard how things went, but fine I hope. We had a nice letter from Betty Lou George Denninen and she said her mother, Jennie Summers’, 100th birthday party went very well. She received a lot of cards that she really enjoyed. We sure hated to miss the historical meeting in Genoa. Ida Einertson and niece put on the program about Norway. We saw a video of it and they done a good job. They mentioned some Norwegian settlements around the country. South of were where Lee was raised there were 4 or 5 Norwegian families and the people used to call it little Norway. We heard the voice of one of our local young men on Channel 4 giving the C.D.O.T. road report about the snow in the foothills. His mother has the Range Ledger paper in Cheyenne Wells. His name is Eric Escudero.

We have had some small rains lately, but we appreciate any amount. I seen the surgeon who done my hip a few days ago and he thought I was doing pretty good and I could drive now. His receptionist is named Sue, and I have sang her a song about Sue a couple of times that she liked, so I’m kinda of high on her list. That doctor knew nothing about my throat. I saw my dentist that day so in about two weeks maybe I can chew something besides lemon pie or ice cream. No bathroom report, as the weather kept him off the street, plus Mother’s Day when the kids were coming home. Lee Ann called her mother today, and Marty is cooking her a steak dinner, which made her day.
