SECWCD to Host Xeriscape WorkshopMay 9, 2003 The Southeastern Colorado Water Conservancy District (SECWCD) will host a Xeriscape Workshop. Workshop topics will emphasize The Seven Principles of Xeriscape and How to apply them to a Landscape, Plants that Prosper in a Low Water Garden, and How to Cope with Drought in a Landscape. A short tour of the Demonstration Xeriscape Garden will also be provided. Information on how to conserve water in our landscapes will be shared by Jean Van Pelt, the Education Program and Maintenance Coordinator for the SECWCD Xeriscape Demonstration Garden. The purpose of the garden is to educate people about the unique style of Xeriscape landscaping and demonstrate that it can be done beautifully. in the local environment and by placing them correctly in the landscape. Van Pelt will demonstrate how it is possible to build a pleasant landscape in an arid climate while focusing on methods that conserve water. The workshop will beheld at the SECWCD headquarter building which is located in the Pueblo Airport Industrial Park at 31717 United Ave. in Pueblo.
