Kyla Witt Chosen District VI Outstanding Junior 4-H MemberMay 9, 2003 Eleven-year-old Kyla Witt of Prowers County has been chosen as the District VI Outstanding Junior 4-H Member for the month of April. The five-year member of the Country Dudes and Dames 4-H Club has been involved in horses, market sheep, breeding sheep, the Ladies Sheep Lead, and the Colorado State Fair through her years in 4-H. She has participated in the Team Penning, concession stand, and 4-H SpringFest. She is also involved in community service with 4-H, volunteering at Sandhaven Care Center, planting flowers on Main Street, and taking lambs to show students at elementary schools and petting zoos. Kyla serves as the secretary of her club and has had the opportunity to run a meeting. She also helps younger kids with their projects and encourages people to join 4-H.

Kyla says she is involved with 4-H because "I love animals and the competition in the shows...Kids make friends and get opportunities they might not get otherwise." She has improved her writing skills and school work as a result of being secretary, as well as preparation for the future in talking in front of a crowd. This Wiley Middle School seventh-grader is also involved in volleyball, basketball, drama, church youth group, art, and poetry. Congratulations, Kyla!
