Wild Horse Roundup

Well, I got to see a pretty good rain today. The only trouble was it was at Coors Field, as I was watching the Rockies. After a two hour delay, they played the game and, with three runs in the bottom of the 9th, they won. Those kinds make me a little crazy.

Thursday my niece, Ruth Sinnes, her daughter, Bonnie Drake, and Dianna Myers of Illinois stopped for a while to visit. They had been to services in Lamar for Vernon Vanderwork, who passed away a while back in Eads. The Sinnes are related to Phyllis Vanderwork, if I’m not mixed up. Our thoughts are with Phyllis and family at their sad time.

Lee ran across an old BB score card of 1968 between Eads and Kit Carson. Our son, Steve, was a senior and I seen he made some scores, but it looked like I kept score, as it was messy. It was fun to see all the kids we know.

Well, I am doing a little walking without help now. My therapist made me to walk to the Post Office Friday using my cane, but when we turned to come back, he took my cane away. He kept his finger in my belt for balance. I made it, but it caused some sore spots.

I asked Marty to go to Kit Carson (Saturday) to the bake sale to get me some cinnamon rolls. She said the sale was yesterday. That’s the story of my life; I guess a day late and a dollar short.

Darrell Schallenberger gives me his Fence Post Magazine, which I enjoy. Candy Moulton, who writes regular in it, visited us quite sometime ago when Chip Hines sent her here. She wanted me to show her the Grady Station site, which was along the Smoky Hill Trail. She took some pictures and she had one of the Grady markers and it is in the April 3 Fence Post. This is on Marty’s ranch, as the Smoky Hill Trail runs through her place. The picture doesn’t show a lot, but we enjoyed them, as I was with her.

Sunday, Marty took us for a ride down to see the baby calves, which sure look nice, and also the grass that is turning green. Marty needs to drive a couple of steel posts where those tumble weeds I like to sing about are hard on fences.

Lee Ann just called to check on us. She said that a while back they got a plaque for having such good milk for ten years. There was a circus a few days ago and cotton candy was $4.00. They enjoyed coloring 31 eggs and then had a hunt, which was fun.
