Two Bulls Top Southeast Colorado Bull Test Sale

The 29th Annual Southeast Colorado Bull Test Sale was held April 3, 2003 at Trail City Livestock, Holly, Colorado. Thirteen buyers registered for the sale, purchasing 16 of the 29 bulls offered for sale. The average price paid for the bulls was $1,275, only $7 less than last years average price.

Two bulls, WLS 5411/2 and WLS New Era 774/2, from Wheatland Brangus, Lakin, Kansas, topped the sale at $1,800 each. Overall, two Gelbvieh bulls sold for an average of $1,050, ten Angus bulls averaged $1,190, and four Brangus bulls brought an average of $1,600.

The high selling Gelbvieh bull was owned by Dennis and Donna Stewart and sold to Robert Hume, all from Manter, Kansas, for $1,200. Dennis Stewart bought the high selling Angus bull from Anetta’s Angus, Springfield, Colorado for $1,500. Anetta’s also had the second highest selling Angus. This bull went to Norman Dorenkamp for $1,450.

 

Volume buyers were Delvin Reinert from Holly, purchasing three Angus bulls, Norman Dorenkamp who purchased one Gelbvieh and one Angus bull, and Jerome Seufer buying two Brangus bulls.
