Wild Horse Roundup

Last Sunday Debbie Lening and her mother stopped by on their way home from Denver. They had been to see the Gaither Gospel Group. They said it was wonderful singing. I have heard them on TV and they are great.

Two Bill Bledsoe’s and James stopped in last weekend to check on me. They were on their way to the Museum pancake supper.

Gary Borns stopped by Monday and brought us banana nut bread and pumpkin bread his wife, Kristie, had made and she took some to work at K.C. Electric.

Today (Saturday) is a busy day around here as Steve is here and he and Marty are working in our bathroom taking out the tub and putting in a shower stall. It probably will be done right since I can’t get in the way.

I saw in the Eastern Colorado Plainsman newspaper where George Sober had a 90th birthday. That brings back memories of long ago when he and I were in the C.C.C. Company together in Hugo. If I remember right, he was a head cook. Pleasant memories.

Ray and Jane Borns stopped in Tuesday to check on me, which I appreciate. I believe she had been to the dentist.

I am still getting a card now and then. This morning I got one from Raymon Morgan of Bennett. I also got a note from L. G. and Phyllis Vanderwork that said their son Vernon had passed away. He has been ill for a long time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

Thursday was club day and Judy Hammer served the dinner. I sat here and the ladies sent Darrell down here with a nice dinner and dessert.

We lost a dear friend Wednesday with the passing of Ida Thompson. She would have been 100 in just a little while. I wanted to call, but our phones haven’t worked fro two days. I have known her for so long, it is hard to remember. I worked for the Schallenberger’s in 1931 so I knew her then as she and Clara were sisters. Our thoughts and prayers are with Darrel and family.

Steve just left for home after taking every thing out of the bathroom except the stool. Lee and I will have to wash at the kitchen sink till he comes back with a shower stall and sink.
