Eads Kids' College Looking for Instructors/Students

Kids' College is a program offering educational and enrichment classes in the summertime to students in first through eighth grades (standing as of the fall of 2003). Kids' College will be held in Eads and will be sponsored in part by Kiowa County RE-1 School District. The School District has graciously offered the use of school facilities. Joan. Hawkins is also working with Kiowa County Economic Development Foundation in the hopes of obtaining grant funds.

To instruct one of the courses you do not need to be a certified teacher, but you need to be a person with a talent or skill who is willing to share your time and ability in teaching students. Be thinking about a course you would be willing to teach.

Students in Eads and outlying areas are encouraged to attend Kids' College. The first session will be the week of June 9, Monday through Thursday. The second session will be the week of June 16, Monday through Thursday. Each class meets for two hours for one full week. Kids' College will be offered only in the mornings. Courses will be offered from 8 a.m. till 9:50 a.m. and from 10 a.m. until noon. A fee will be charged, and scholarships may be available to some students.

Kids' College is a wonderful enrichment program offered to our students during the summertime; it is exciting and worthwhile to have courses here in Eads. The dates of Kids' College are firm, but the course offerings will be contingent upon available instructors and adequate student enrollment.

Registration for Kids' College will be on Monday, May 5, 2003 from 4 till 6 p.m. at the Eads Elementary School, or you can register by mail. Registration forms will be distributed at the Eads Elementary School (and surrounding area elementary schools) and are available at the Post Office and Kiowa County Public Library.
