Arkansas Valley Holds Speaking Contests

The Arkansas Valley FFA District held Extemporaneous and Prepared Speaking Contests on March 12, 2003 at the Karval High School. Two members from each of the six chapters were allowed to compete in each speaking contest. The following placed in the Bronze Category in the Extemporaneous Contest: Rachel Weber (McClave), Lange Heckman (McClave), Curt Dutro (Cheyenne Wells), Drew Dawson (Kit Carson), and Shawn Kraft (Eads). Briana Kerfoot from Eads placed in the Silver Category. Lisa Paintin from Kit Carson placed first in the Gold Category and will be representing the Arkansas Valley District at this year’s State Convention, and Briana Kerfoot will be the Alternate.
The following placed in the Bronze Category in the Prepared Speaking Contest: Candice Curry (McClave), Ashley Brown (Eads), and Kayla Rushton (Holly). Whitney Siegfried from Holly placed in the Silver Category and placed third. Susan Kasza from McClave and Kacy Logan from Karval both placed in the Gold Category. Susan placed second and Kacy placed first. Kacy will be representing the Arkansas Valley District at this year’s state convention in Burlington, June 4-6; Susan will be her alternate. Congratulations to all members who competed in the speaking contests, and good luck to those advancing on to the state level.
