Planting of Eads Living Snow Fence a Success!April 4, 2003 Over 30 people volunteered an entire day on March 29th to help plant over 800 trees and shrubs! This living snow fence will provide protection of the county road from snow and blowing snow, and will provide a great habitat for wildlife. Arbor Day was celebrated and the Colorado State Forest Service presented the Tree City USA flag to the Town of Eads for its ninth year of participation in the program. Many people came together to take this project from planning to implementation. We would like to thank the following cooperating agencies for their time and donations of materials and supplies: Kiowa County, Natural Resource Conservation Service, CSU Cooperative Extension Service, Kiowa County Conservation District, Colorado State Land Board, Colorado Division of Wildlife, and the Colorado State Forest Service. We greatly appreciate the volunteers who gave up their Saturday—without them the project would not have been possible: Kiowa County Commissioners, Kiowa County Employees, Eads FFA, Prairie Queen 4-H Club, Sheridan Lake Live Wires 4-H club, Rebecca Lodge, Town of Eads, Natural Resource Conservation Service, CSU Cooperative Extension Service, Colorado State Forest Service, local citizens, and folks from La Junta and Fowler. A big THANK YOU to everyone!
