William Guy Eads Sr. passed away at St. Mary's Hospital March 31, 2003 after a lengthy illness. Guy was born in Dalhart, Texas November 4, 1918 to George Wesley Eads and Alice Mae Walker. The family moved to Eads, Colorado in 1930 where he finished junior high and high school. He was the Valedictorian of his graduating class. In December of 1940 he enlisted in the Army and was sent to Puerto Rico where he met and married Digna Pacheco Llorens in 1943. He and Digna had two children.
Guy was back in the United States for a short time in 1944 and then he was sent to Iwo Jima where he served until the end of the war. After the war he and his wife farmed northeast of Lamar, Colorado. Guy loved farming. He loved to see things grow; he found pleasure in watching a field of hay or wheat waving in the wind. He also enjoyed raising sheep. Guy was a very good mechanic and made some of his farm machinery. In 1958 the family quit farming and Guy went to work for the Agriculture, Stabilization and Conservation Service. He served as office manager, auditor, and district director. He is survived by his wife Digna, of Grand Junction, son Bill Jr., also of Grand Junction, and a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and M.L. Mitchell of Phoenix, Arizona. He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
