About Town

Our sincere sympathy to the family of Kelly Lindholm of Eads. He was a respected farmer and Christian man who will be sorely missed by his family and friends. God bless this family is the prayer of his friends.

Max and Donna Owens have been away visiting her family and friends in Arkansas.

Dan and Evelyn Garner were honored Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Eads who have been faithful members for all their married life. Their kindness to others has meant so much. They are moving to an apartment in a lovely senior citizen complex in the Denver area to be near their son, Jim. God bless and keep them in His care in this new change in their lives.

Sincere sympathy to the family of Edith Loflin who used to live in Eads. She passed away at the Cheyenne Manor. She is an aunt of Glaida Craven and Allen Peterson of Kit Carson.

The Square Dance revue of Denim and Lace will be April 3, 4, and 5th, in Lamar. Eads has some dancer participants. It is really fun to watch these precision dancers in their beautiful costumes. We have enjoyed them through the years.About my column "About Town" being missing last week? As it happened it wasn’t my fault. I think it’s the first time in 16 years to not be published. Are you still reading Paul Daniels? Thanks for your confidence. (Editor’s Note: Last weeks column was not received by deadline. Highlights of the column appear in this issue of the Press).

The mountain area of Colorado and Denver experienced a fierce snow storm last week. This blizzard really produced valuable moisture in amounts like 72, or 42, more or less inches. Although our county didn’t get snow we did get between 1 ½" to nine tenth inches of rain around here.

Teachers and students enjoyed spring break. The Track team practiced and the Baseball team played at Las Animas. Kelli and Riki Berry flew to Hawaii for the spring break. When the snowy roads opened up, others went other places to visit.

Congratulations to Tiffanie Gooden and Treva Richardson, Eads seniors, who were chosen and honored to be invited to play in the Colorado Coaches Games at Broomfield, Sunday, March 23. Of course lots of family members went to cheer them on.

Dorothy Negley hosted a birthday party Sunday for her husband, Edwin, who is 81 years old. Ed said he was pleased to also have his daughter, Karen, and family come from Denver and is brother, from Syracuse, Kansas.

Our hearts go out to 6 year old McKenzie Huggins and her family of Dallas, Texas who is having brain tumor surgery soon. McKenzie is the granddaughter of Johnnie Holcomb, Plainview Superintendent.
